In Matrei the tennis outfit is glacier white. The very first tennis court in Matrei in East Tyrol - in the park of the castle Weissenstein - was only available to the illustrious castle society. At this time it was a sport of the nobility. Those days are long gone. Today the Tauern tennis hall and the associated outdoor courts are open to all tennis enthusiasts. The complex is not far from our hotel.
If you don't want to carry your own bycicle with you but want to discover the region of Matrei in Osttirol and the Nationalpark - don't worry, there is a sport-shop, which offers mountain bikes, trekking bikes, children bikes, e-bikes. We will be happy to advice you planning your tour.
Ride on the mountain pastures like a cowboy. Those who seeks happiness on the backs of horses, can find Western riding at Ortnerhof stables owned by family Kratzer here in Matrei in East Tyrol in the Hohe Tauern National Park. The trail riding or the pasture ride with a hearty picnic are special and unforgettable adventures. And during the cold season you can ride through the quiet and glistening winter landscape.
