Ski Touring
Each skier can make his own ski tracks in the Hohe Tauern National Park. In other places there is nothing but ski lifts, but here with us there are countless ski tour destinations. About half of East Tyrol lies at about 2,000 m. There are 241 three-thousand meter peaks and approximately 100 square kilometers of the country consist of glaciers. Romance, solitude and challenge guaranteed.

Ice climbing
The Ice Climbing Park Osttirol was discovered after a year of intensive search by the Kalser mountain guides Vittorio Messini and Mathias Wurzer. It is located about a 20-minute walk behind the Matreier Tauernhaus. The artificial icefalls are created through fine water mist from pipelines and then shaped into a large climbing wall with around 80 routes of varying difficulty levels. Thanks to the stable ice conditions, climbing is possible even in milder winters.
Access starts from the Matreier Tauernhaus along the Innergschlöß forest road, then branches off towards the Wohlgemutalm and continues along the right-hand slope. After crossing a small pedestrian bridge, the base of the climbing wall is reached in about 20 minutes. The descent is done by rappelling from equipped rock anchors. Recommended equipment: ice and mixed climbing gear, a 70-meter single rope, or 60-meter double ropes.
